Fiona McGuinty

Fiona McGuinty, an associate within the Competition & Foreign Investment Group, dedicates her expertise primarily to scrutinizing transactions under the ambit of the Competition Act and the Investment Canada Act.

Affiliated with the Law Society of Ontario, Fiona's legal journey is distinguished by her dual law degree in common law and civil law from McGill University. Her time at law school was notable for her role as a senior editor at the McGill Journal of Dispute Resolution and her volunteer work as a caseworker at the McGill Legal Information Clinic.

Before her tenure at Stikeman Elliott, Fiona gained experience as an assistant to a panel member at a Canada-United States-Mexico Agreement (CUSMA) hearing held by the Canadian International Trade Tribunal. She also contributed her skills as a Competition Law Officer at Canada's Competition Bureau.

Significant contributions by Fiona include advising HSBC Holdings plc as Canadian counsel on its C$13.5 billion sale of HSBC Bank Canada and its subsidiaries to the Royal Bank of Canada, guiding JAMP Pharma Group through its acquisition of assets from Pharmalab Inc. and Laboratoires C.O.P., and assisting Max Solutions, Inc. in its acquisition of Bellwyck Packaging Inc.
