Ivan Grbesic

Ivan Grbesic serves as a partner and Co-Lead of the Mining Group, playing a pivotal role within the Capital Markets, Securities, and Mergers & Acquisitions Groups as well. His instrumental contribution extends to leading the firm's efforts in Latin America.

His legal practice is centered on corporate and securities law, spotlighting corporate finance activities, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate restructuring. Ivan adeptly counsels issuers and underwriters on initial public offerings, various offerings, private placements, and advises boards, special committees, and consultants on transaction structuring, corporate governance, securities regulatory compliance, and broader corporate matters.

Ivan's proficiency shines in managing cross-border and international transactions, where he navigates the complexities of cross-cultural issues inherent in global deals.

In his professional engagements, Ivan holds positions on the boards of the Canadian-Croatian Chamber of Commerce, Tribute to Liberty, and St. Joseph’s Health Centre Foundation in Toronto. His previous roles include serving as President of the Advisory Council to the Government of the Republic of Croatia for Croats Living Abroad and Chairing the Endowment Council of the Canadian First World War Internment Recognition Fund. He is a member of both the Law Society of Ontario and the Canadian Bar Association.

Ivan is trilingual, fluent in English, French, and Croatian, enhancing his ability to engage in diverse international contexts.

His areas of expertise encompass capital markets, mergers and acquisitions, securities, mining, and corporate governance, showcasing his comprehensive legal knowledge.

Ivan's educational background includes an LL.B. from the University of Ottawa obtained in 2000, and an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and International Relations from Laurentian University completed in 1997. His admission to the Ontario Bar marks the formal start of his legal career.
