Kevin Smyth

Kevin Smyth serves as a partner and co-leader of both the Mergers & Acquisitions and Private Equity Groups at the Toronto office. He specializes in corporate and commercial law, with a pronounced emphasis on both private and public mergers and acquisitions.

Smyth's extensive experience includes collaborating with private equity funds, their portfolio companies, and multinational corporations. He is proficient in advising on every facet of cross-border private equity transactions. His expertise also spans venture capital investments, the formation of joint ventures and partnerships, the drafting of complex shareholder agreements, and navigating insolvency and restructuring scenarios. Smyth has earned a reputation as a reliable advisor for general corporate and commercial issues for a diverse clientele that spans multiple industries such as technology, food services, diversified sectors, and mining. Furthermore, he has successfully represented sponsors and discerning investors in establishing numerous private equity funds in Canada.

Beyond his legal practice, Smyth contributes to the firm’s educational efforts as a member of the Students’ Committee in the Toronto office.

He maintains active memberships in the Law Society of Ontario and the Canadian Bar Association, highlighting his engagement with the legal community.
