Maria Konyukhova

Maria Konyukhova, a key partner in the Litigation & Dispute Resolution Group, dedicates her legal practice entirely to insolvency law. She represents a broad spectrum of clients, including debtors, monitors appointed by courts, secured lenders, and entities looking to purchase assets out of insolvency. Her legal prowess is most visible in her regular appearances in Ontario Superior Court of Justice and Court of Appeal cases, particularly those involving the Companies' Creditors Arrangement Act, as well as in receiverships and bankruptcy proceedings. Konyukhova's expertise also extends beyond Ontario, having represented clients in restructuring cases across Alberta, British Columbia, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Manitoba.

In addition to her court appearances, Konyukhova contributes to the legal community through education and speaking engagements. She has shared her insights as a guest lecturer on restructuring topics at Osgoode Hall Law School's LLM program and the University of Western Ontario Law School, besides speaking at numerous conferences. Her professional affiliations are extensive, including memberships in the Insolvency Institute of Canada, INSOL International, the Turnaround Management Association, the International Women's Insolvency & Restructuring Confederation, the Canadian Bar Association, and the Ontario Bar Association, reflecting her deep engagement with the insolvency law community.

Before her current role at Stikeman Elliott, Konyukhova honed her skills at a boutique firm in Toronto, specializing in bankruptcy and insolvency litigation. This background laid a solid foundation for her specialization in restructuring and insolvency law.

Konyukhova's academic journey began with a Bachelor of Arts from York University in 2003, followed by an LL.B. from Osgoode Hall Law School in 2005. Her admission to the Ontario bar marks her formal entry into a career that has since been characterized by significant contributions to the field of insolvency law, demonstrating her commitment to excellence and leadership in her field.
