Marie Garneau

Marie Garneau holds a partnership at her firm within the Banking & Finance and Mergers & Acquisitions Groups. Her vast experience includes representing a broad spectrum of lenders and borrowers in various domestic and international financing operations, such as leveraged buyouts, asset-based lending, and complex debt, mezzanine, and structured financing arrangements. Additionally, Marie has offered her expertise to creditors, debtors, and monitors in the realm of commercial insolvencies and restructurings. She also contributes to the firm's Associates’ Committee in the Toronto office.

In her professional capacity, Marie regularly shares her knowledge as a guest lecturer in the Joint JD/MBA Program at the Schulich School of Business and Osgoode Hall Law School. She has been a speaker at numerous conferences, discussing topics like security perfection in Canada and leveraged debt financing strategies. Marie's leadership roles have included serving as Vice Chair of the Board of Directors for TFS - Canada’s International School and leading its Nominating and Governance Committee.

Bilingual in French and English, Marie brings a versatile communication skill set to her practice.

Her expertise spans banking and finance, private equity, mergers and acquisitions, and restructuring and insolvency, reflecting her comprehensive legal acumen.

Marie's educational background is distinguished, with an LL.B. from the University of Western Ontario obtained in 1994, and an LL.B. in Civil Law from Université Laval completed in 1993. Her legal career in Canada was formalized with her admission to the Ontario Bar in 1997 and the Québec Bar in 1996.
