Nicholas Avis

Nick Avis, serving as an associate within the Insolvency and Restructuring Group, dedicates his expertise to navigating financial restructurings, corporate reorganizations, refinancings, and addressing challenges arising from business difficulties. He represents a wide array of stakeholders, including corporate debtors, both secured and unsecured creditors, purchasing entities, and officers appointed by the court. Nick's proficiency encompasses designing transactions and operating within the frameworks of the Companies' Creditors Arrangement Act and the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act.

An active participant in the legal community, Nick holds memberships in the Law Society of Ontario and the Turnaround Management Association, demonstrating his commitment to the field of insolvency and restructuring. He also extends his knowledge and skills to those in need through Pro Bono Ontario.

Nick brings a wealth of international experience to his practice, having previously honed his skills in financial restructuring at a prominent law firm in London, England. There, he specialized in orchestrating intricate international transactions. Additionally, Nick's global perspective is further enriched by his internship at the International Finance Corporation (World Bank Group) in Washington, D.C., where his focus was on insolvency processes in emerging markets.

Complementing his practical experience, Nick has also achieved a certification in legal French from Western University, augmenting his linguistic capabilities within the legal profession.
