Philip Yang

Philip Yang, an associate with the Litigation & Dispute Resolution Group, concentrates his practice on the intricacies of restructuring and insolvency.

A member of both the Law Society of Ontario and the Canadian Bar Association, as well as the Ontario Bar Association, Philip's legal journey before joining Stikeman Elliott included tenure at a prominent regional firm in Toronto. There, his work spanned Commercial Litigation and Business Reorganization & Insolvency Groups.

Yang's academic tenure was marked by excellence, securing top honors in Taxation courses among other accolades during his legal studies.

His areas of practice include navigating the complexities of restructuring & insolvency as well as litigation & dispute resolution.

Philip's academic background is solid, with a Juris Doctor degree from Dalhousie University earned in 2020 and an Honours Bachelor of Arts from Wilfrid Laurier University, obtained in 2016. He was admitted to the Ontario Bar in 2021.

His representative work includes significant roles in the court-supervised reorganization of Instant Brands Inc. under Chapter 11 and the CCAA, as well as facilitating the asset sale of MAV Beauty Brands Inc. to Nexus Capital Management LP.

Recently, Philip Yang has been welcomed into the Toronto Litigation and Dispute Resolution Group as an associate.

One of his notable speaking engagements was a presentation on “Cryptocurrency, Bankruptcy & Fraud” at the Annual Fraud Conference organized by the Association of Certified Forensic Investigators of Canada, delivered via webinar in November 2020.
