Stewart Sutcliffe

Stewart Sutcliffe serves as a partner and the past leader of both the Private Equity and Private Mergers & Acquisitions Groups, also engaging as a member of the Management Committee in the Toronto office. Sutcliffe's legal expertise spans a wide spectrum, emphasizing domestic and international private and public mergers and acquisitions alongside private equity investments, including PIPE transactions.

A recognized member of the Canadian Bar Association, Sutcliffe's professional contributions to the legal field are notable. His legal journey includes a significant five-year period practicing in the firm’s London office, where he led M&A transactions across various jurisdictions and sectors.

Sutcliffe's areas of specialization are broad, covering private equity, mergers and acquisitions, securities, capital markets, agribusiness, and the cannabis industry, showcasing his versatility and depth of knowledge in the field.

His academic background is solid, holding an LL.B. from Osgoode Hall Law School, obtained in 1999, and a Bachelor of Arts with distinction from the University of Western Ontario, completed in 1996. His admission to the Ontario bar in 2001 marked the beginning of his distinguished career in law.
