Elizabeth Kurz

Elizabeth Kurz embarked on her legal career with Gowling WLG's Advocacy Group in 2018, serving as an associate with a keen focus on navigating the intricacies of commercial and civil litigation disputes.

Her litigation practice is diverse, tackling issues ranging from contractual and shareholder disputes to construction litigation, class actions, and insurance defense. Elizabeth has represented clients across various judicial levels in Ontario and engaged in private arbitration processes, showcasing her comprehensive legal skills.

In 2021, Elizabeth contributed to the legal community by authoring a chapter on Rule 76, Simplified Procedure, in the newly published textbook Civil Procedure and Practice in Ontario (CPPO), a collaborative effort by CanLII that draws on the knowledge of renowned litigators and civil procedure experts in Ontario. Her commitment to access to justice is evident in her role as the firm's Pro Bono Ontario associate coordinator, where she dedicates her expertise to volunteering with Pro Bono Ontario's free legal advice hotline.

Elizabeth's legal education was completed at the University of Toronto's Faculty of Law, where she actively engaged in clinical legal work and held the position of executive editor for the University of Toronto Faculty of Law Review. Additionally, she contributed as a research assistant, further honing her analytical and legal research skills.

After being called to the Ontario bar in 2018, following her graduation from the University of Toronto's Faculty of Law with a JD in 2017, and her prior education at Queen's University, Elizabeth Kurz has established herself as a dynamic and dedicated legal professional within Gowling WLG and the broader legal community.
