Joshua Hanet

Josh Hanet operates out of Gowling WLG's Toronto office as a partner in the advocacy domain, specializing in defending medical professionals, handling product liability cases, engaging in commercial litigation, and dealing with professional regulatory issues. He has provided legal defense for a wide array of physicians across civil and administrative platforms. Josh's expertise extends to defending clients in the realm of product liability, including class actions, where he represents companies across diverse sectors such as consumer products, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and manufacturing.

His legal prowess has been demonstrated at every level of the Ontario courts, including the Court of Appeal, and before various professional regulatory bodies and administrative tribunals. Known for his insightful, skilled, and focused advocacy, Josh is dedicated to delivering strategic, sensible, and invaluable services to all his clients.

In addition to his professional commitments, Josh is deeply involved in pro bono activities. He represents families in partnership with Pro Bono Law Ontario and the Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital. He also serves as duty counsel in the Ontario Superior Court of Justice and the Small Claims Court and offers mentorship to budding legal practitioners in law schools across Ontario.

Josh was called to the Ontario Bar in 2008 after completing his legal education at the University of Ottawa (LLB) and the Michigan State University College of Law (JD). He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from McGill University, obtained in 2002. Josh is an active member of The Advocates' Society and The Medico-Legal Society, further contributing to his field.
