Peter Gross

Peter Gross serves as a partner at Gowling WLG's Toronto branch, focusing on municipal land use planning law. With his LSO certification as a Specialist, Peter is dedicated to providing insightful and actionable advice to clients, streamlining their navigation through the intricacies of development approvals for both efficient and cost-effective outcomes.

His role involves close collaboration with planning and technical teams to ensure that development proposals align with the Province's planning policies, meet regulatory demands, and comply with relevant laws. Peter is proactive in engaging with municipal staff, working towards the smooth submission and progression of development applications.

Peter's extensive experience includes representing clients across various land use tribunals and courts, handling a broad spectrum of planning appeals, and defending against regulatory prosecutions.

His expertise spans real estate, expropriation law, and municipal law. Peter has consistently been recognized by Best Lawyers in Canada from 2021 to 2024 for his contributions to the field.

In addition to his professional practice, Peter is actively involved in the community, serving as a Citizen Director on the Toronto Lands Corporation Board of Directors since 2021 and holding various executive roles within the Ontario Bar Association's Municipal Section from 2014 to 2019. His early career includes positions at Wood Bull LLP focusing on municipal land use planning and development and as a solicitor in the Development Approvals and Planning Policy Department of the Town of Caledon.

Peter's legal journey began with a Juris Doctor from Seattle University School of Law in 1995, followed by his admission to the State of Washington's bar the same year. His foundational education includes a Bachelor of Science from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in 1990. Peter is a member of both the Washington State Bar Association and the Law Society of Ontario, reflecting his dual qualifications and commitment to legal excellence.
