Fatima-Tu Zahra

Fatima Zahra, a dedicated associate within the Advocacy Department at Gowling WLG's Toronto branch, comes with a strong background in law and business administration. Her journey into the legal field began at the University of New Brunswick (UNB), where she earned her law degree, JD, in 2019.

Throughout her time at law school, Fatima immersed herself in a variety of hands-on learning experiences that enriched her understanding and application of the law. She earned a coveted judicial internship, offering her the unique opportunity to work closely with judges at the Supreme Court of Nova Scotia as a summer law clerk. Her skills in negotiation were recognized when she was chosen as one of the four students to represent UNB Law at the Canadian National Negotiation Competition, showcasing her ability to effectively advocate and negotiate. Beyond competitions, Fatima dedicated her efforts to enhancing access to justice within the community through significant involvement with the Fredericton Legal Advice Clinic.

Before her legal studies, Fatima pursued an international bachelor of business administration degree, graduating with honors from the Schulich School of Business at York University in 2015. Her academic journey also included a semester abroad at the IÉSEG School of Management in Lille, France, broadening her global perspective and business acumen. During her undergraduate years, Fatima gained practical experience through various summer roles at the Canada Revenue Agency, further solidifying her foundation in both business and regulatory environments.

In 2020, Fatima was called to the Ontario Bar, marking the beginning of her professional journey in law where she leverages her diverse educational background and practical experiences to navigate the complexities of advocacy and litigation.
