I had the unfortunate experience of working with Howard Manis, and I must say it was an absolute nightmare.

The primary issue that has left me thoroughly frustrated is the blatant disregard for proper billing practices. I received a bill from Mr. Manis that was riddled with errors, and despite my numerous attempts to resolve these issues over 8 months, he has shown a complete lack of professionalism and responsibility. It is both astonishing and disheartening that a lawyer of his supposed caliber has consistently ignored our concerns and failed to take any meaningful action.

Here are some of the glaring problems with Mr. Manis' billing:
1. Inaccurate Initial Retainer Balance: We initially paid a substantial sum of $5650 to Mr. Manis when we signed the retainer agreement. However, the bill he provided shows an initial retainer balance of $3,743.12, which is $1,906.88 less than what we paid. This discrepancy is unacceptable and speaks to a severe lack of attention to detail.
2. Incorrect Billing Rate: The bill did not reflect the rate that we had agreed upon in the retainer agreement. It is both baffling and concerning that Mr. Manis could not even get the basic terms of our agreement right.
3. Absurd Charges for Reading Emails: Perhaps the most egregious example of Mr. Manis's questionable billing practices is his decision to charge us for an hour of his time, simply for reading two emails from us. This is not only unjustifiable but also ethically questionable.

To add insult to injury, when confronted with these issues, Mr. Manis offered a mere $1500 credit towards his future services, which we rightfully declined. Instead of taking responsibility for his errors, he dismissed our concerns as a "misunderstanding." It is abundantly clear that Mr. Manis is more interested in deflecting blame than in rectifying his mistakes.

To make matters worse, Mr. Manis seems to have a habit of deflecting responsibility and promising to review the issues without actually doing anything about them. It's as if he thinks that saying he'll look into it is enough to placate his clients. Well, let me tell you, it's not. We have provided him with all the necessary documentation, including the original retainer agreement, which clearly shows the discrepancies in his billing, and yet he continues to procrastinate and avoid addressing the problem.

Despite our repeated attempts to communicate with him, he has displayed a shocking disregard for our concerns over the past few months. It's as if he has no respect for his clients' time or money.

In conclusion, my experience with Howard Manis has been a complete and utter disappointment. His handling of our billing issues has been unprofessional, irresponsible, and downright infuriating. I would strongly advise anyone considering his services to think twice and seek legal counsel elsewhere. This has been a truly regrettable experience, and I can only hope that others can avoid the same ordeal by staying far away from Howard Manis and Manis Law.
