Sara Turner

Sara A. Turner offers a steady hand in turbulent times, dedicated to safeguarding her clients' rights across South Carolina courts since founding her firm in 2018. Her approach emphasizes compassion and care, regardless of case size. Known for her determination, organization, and keen understanding of client needs, Sara stands out as an exceptional advocate.

Her legal practice spans Magistrate Court, Municipal Court, General Sessions, Family Court, Common Pleas, and Federal Court. Sara has made close to 400 court appearances in her criminal defense career, covering a wide range of cases: Minor in Possession, Fake ID, DUIs, CDVs, drug charges from Simple Possession to Trafficking, assaults from Simple Assault to Murder, and property crimes from Shoplifting to Burglary.

Sara's academic journey began at the College of Charleston, where she earned a B.A. in Communication in 2008. She then attended the Charleston School of Law, graduating with a J.D. in 2011. During law school, she clerked at Bluestein, Johnson & Burke, LLC, and Rosen, Rosen & Hagood, LLC.

After joining the South Carolina Bar, Sara worked as an associate attorney at firms focusing on criminal defense, family law, and personal injury. From 2013 to 2018, she continued this focus at McCoy & Stokes, LLC. Sara's commitment to the legal community is evident through her past presidency of the Charleston Lawyers Club and memberships in the South Carolina Bar and Charleston County Bar. Raised in Bluffton, South Carolina, Sara has called Charleston home since 2005.

In the realm of family law, Sara guides clients through straightforward and intricate custody and divorce cases, often serving as a Guardian ad Litem. She has published articles on parental alienation, highlighting its growing relevance in custody battles. Her work against big insurance companies has consistently benefited clients in personal injury suits.

Sara's community involvement is extensive. In 2022, she was recognized among Charleston's Best Criminal Defense Attorneys by Expertise.com and named a Rising Star by Super Lawyers. She also earned runner-up for Best Family Law Attorney in Charleston City Paper. Previously, she was honored as the Best Family Law Attorney by Charleston City Paper in 2021 and 2020, and runner-up in 2019, when she also received the Charleston Choice Award from Post & Courier.

Active in mentorship, Sara participates in the Law Links Mentorship Program at Charleston School of Law. She has served as a Public Defender in Hanahan and presented practical courtroom tips to the Criminal Law Society and Legal Skills at Charleston School of Law. Additionally, she volunteers for the S.C. Bar Ask a Lawyer Event.
