My father had applied/enquired for citizenship renewal and for myself as well He had come here in 1957 and faced discrimination of German people and was forced to give up his Germancitizenship when he became Canadian He was not allowed to have dual citizenship however I understand that that law has now changed. I love Germany and respect the values, and wish and need to live in Germany. My hope is to work within the Germany, economy and participate to my homeland and I’ve always felt I belonging there In June 2023, he had inquired and tried to gain his citizenship back, as well as for myself was told that time the laws did not allow him to have dual citizenship When he inquired in June 2023, the law did not allow for Germans to hold dual citizenship, but apparently that has changed in the last six months I would like to get my citizenship and he would like his reinstated He emigrated to Canada in June of 1957. Married a Canadian citizen in 1962. Became a Canadian citizen in 1966. His German passport was issued in Germany in 1953, and expired in 1958. It was extended at the Consulate in Toronto until 1963 and has been dormant since then. Is he still a German citizen? Can I apply for a German passport? Am I ( his son) (born in 1968) entitled to a German passport? I have a picture of his passport if that would be helpful
