Tung represents clients in patent litigation, both offensively and defensively, in district courts and before the International Trade Commission. He has participated in every phase of litigation, from pre-trial investigation through trial and post-trial motions, in cases involving telecommunications networks (including wired and wireless technologies such as cellular, Wi-Fi, UMTS, and LTE), semiconductor technologies (including device fabrication techniques, packaging, and analog and digital circuits), computer graphics, microprocessors, data storage, flash memory, calling cards, display technologies (including LCD, plasma, and laser-based displays), user interfaces (including speech and biometrics), encryption, and medical devices. Tung also has substantial experience with standard essential patents and is familiar with the operations of various standards-setting organizations, such as the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) and the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI).

In addition to litigation matters, Tung’s practice includes Patent Office inter partes review and ex parte reexamination proceedings, licensing (both offensive and defensive), defending clients from patent assertions by practicing and non-practicing entities, patent portfolio analysis, and negotiating technology and intellectual property agreements. Prior to law school, Tung worked as an electrical engineer for ElectroSpace Systems and Comsat RSI. While at ElectroSpace and later at Comsat, Tung worked on all aspects of antenna control systems used in satellite communications systems and radio telescopes, from designing circuit boards to system and software integration. He also worked on the control system for the Green Bank Telescope, the world’s largest fully steerable radio telescope.
