Lindsey Beran is a litigation partner in the Dallas office of Kirkland & Ellis LLP, with a practice focusing on government and internal investigations. During her time in the Criminal Division, Lindsey investigated and prosecuted a wide variety of cases, including healthcare fraud, financial fraud, environmental matters, and complex narcotics distribution matters that required the use of innovative legal theories and cyber tools. Lindsey handled healthcare fraud matters involving individuals and related entities under investigation and indictment for violations of Medicare, Medicaid, TRICARE and Controlled Substances Act rules and regulations. In prosecuting these matters, Lindsey honed her ability to navigate and understand government agency rules and regulations. As a Civil Assistant U.S. Attorney and Deputy Civil Chief, Lindsey investigated and oversaw investigations involving the enforcement of False Claims Act, Anti-Kickback, Controlled Substances Act and FDA matters. In her civil role, Lindsey navigated relationships across agencies, including the Department of Health & Human Services, FDA and DEA and became familiar with the intricacies of the False Claims Act and Controlled Substances Act. She recovered millions of dollars as settlements involving civil affirmative investigations and assisted in the execution and enforcement of DEA and FDA administrative inspections, subpoenas and resolutions.
