Michelle Morgan sees herself as her clients’ head coach, working closely with executives and HR professionals to minimize the risk of employment disputes. Her preventive measures include training and counseling on the sometimes-overwhelming body of employment laws and regulations faced by growing businesses. When employment disputes arise, she works closely with her client and litigation team to craft a strategy aimed at a quick, decisive win.
Michelle’s clients include small and mid-size businesses, including automobile dealerships, staffing companies, executive search firms, and dental and psychology practices. She has been Board Certified in Labor and Employment Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization since 2001 and is a frequent speaker on employment law issues.
Her work focuses on ensuring employers comply with federal employment laws such as the Family Medical Leave Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act, the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and Title VII, as well as state and local employment laws. In addition to counseling clients on compliance matters and strategies to avoid claims, Michelle represents clients in cases involving:
Discrimination
Sexual harassment
Retaliation
Covenants not-to-compete
Trade secret litigation
Breach of contract
Wage claims
Michelle also represents clients in administrative matters involving government agencies, including the Texas Workforce Commission, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Department of Labor, and Occupational Health and Safety Administration.
Michelle has served on the firm’s Management Committee since 2014.
In addition to her involvement in legal organizations, Michelle has served as basketball coach to hundreds of student-athletes in the Dallas Parochial League. After 16 years coaching various girls’ teams at Holy Family of Nazareth Catholic School in Irving, she transitioned in 2011 to coaching at Dallas’ St. Monica Catholic School, her home parish, where she has coached 6th-8th grade boys’ teams.
She was recognized as “Altrusan of the Year” in recognition of her efforts as Chair of Altrusa International of Downtown Dallas’ 2014 Dessert First event, which raised more than $100,000.
Michelle is a Dallas native and graduate of Ursuline Academy. She is exceedingly proud of her 11 nieces and nephews and loves to spend time with them and their families (16 great nieces and nephews – and counting!). When not practicing law or coaching basketball, Michelle can usually be found out on the lake, watching college football, or on a travel adventure with family and friends.
