Colin Hatcher

Born and raised in England, Colin emigrated to the USA in 1995 and graduated from Santa Clara Law School, California, in 2001. He was admitted to the California Bar in 2002 and the Texas Bar in 2008. Colin’s entire legal career has been focused on insurance defense for major insurance companies, including Farmers, State Farm, USAA, Geico, Carolina Casualty, and Progressive Insurance.

As outside counsel, Colin specialized in defending catastrophic commercial 18-wheeler accidents, wrongful death claims, and other large loss claims, including devastating falls, landlord-tenant disputes, and mold and fire claims. Additionally, he has experience defending Texas workers’ compensation claims statewide, both subscribers and non-subscribers.

Prior to joining SLG, Colin served for six years as a Senior In-House Counsel for Progressive Insurance in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Colin joined SLG in January 2022. He currently handles the firm’s substantial insurance defense docket.

Colin has a reputation for extensive and comprehensive legal knowledge, detailed and precise research and writing, thorough analysis and accuracy in claims evaluation, charismatic oral presentation before a jury, and a calm demeanor both in and out of court. Colin majored in theater and literature. He is a practicing martial artist of 46 years, is married, and has four children.
