Amna Bhatti stands at the forefront of human rights and immigration law, bringing her expertise and passion to Osuji & Smith Immigration Division from the scenic landscapes of Yukon territory. With fluency in Urdu and Punjabi, she champions the rights of migrants and women, embodying the spirit of advocacy in her work. Her legal practice spans both Yukon and Ontario, where she also dedicates her skills as Legal Counsel and Human Rights Officer at the Yukon Human Rights Commission.

Arriving in Canada in 2016 as a first-generation immigrant, Amna's journey began with an impressive academic foundation from Lahore University of Management Sciences in Pakistan, capped by a BA-LL.B. (Hons). Furthering her education, she pursued an LL.M. at Osgoode Hall Law School, balancing her studies with an internship at the Family Responsibility Office of the Ontario Ministry of Attorney General. Her professional path then led her to Levine Associates in downtown Toronto, where she honed her expertise in family, refugee, and immigration law.

Amna's career is distinguished by her adept handling of federal and provincial legislation, where her analytical skills shine in evidence collection, legal issue interpretation, and document drafting. Her journey took a pivotal turn upon her licensing in Ontario, leading her to South Africa to serve as a Legal Advisor with Lawyers for Human Rights. There, she embarked on significant research into the plights of female migrants, culminating in a published, peer-reviewed report in 2021.

In Yukon, Amna's impact deepens as she oversees policy, program, and legislation reviews at the Human Rights Commission, ensuring adherence to the Yukon Human Rights Act. Her role extends to investigating discrimination and harassment cases and enhancing public legal education through presentations and project contributions.

As Chair of the Constitutional and Human Rights Law Section for the Canadian Bar Association's Yukon branch, Amna also lends her voice and expertise to the Yukon Conservation Society through volunteer work. Beyond her professional and volunteer endeavors, she nurtures a passion for photography, sharing her captures of global landscapes and wildlife on her blog, intertwined with discussions on rights issues. Amna's love for the Yukon wilderness is matched by her enthusiasm for reading, painting, crocheting, and moments spent with her husky, reflecting a well-rounded life dedicated to justice, nature, and creativity.
