There has been a violent courtroom confrontation in Vancouver. After 16 years of arguing online, the two women finally met face-to-face in court. The two women, Jing Lu and Qinqin Shen met in a Vancouver Supreme courtroom.

Lu and Shen had been fighting on a Chinese forum and both sued each other for defamation. When they finally met, Shen stabbed Lu in the middle of the Vancouver courtroom.

Shen went into the courtroom and started to stab Lu as soon as she saw her. It happened at 10 am once the courthouse opened to the public.

The woman that was stabbed didn’t die but had to be rushed to the hospital.

There are tons of Sheriffs around the Vancouver courthouse, but they often do not check for weapons. They only check for weapons during high-profile criminal law cases.

This normally includes murder cases or high-profile cases.

The Vancouver courthouse is considered safer than the Surrey BC court.

Because of the pandemic, there are Sheriffs checking everyone that comes into court. However, this is for COVID-19 screening, not for security reasons.

The sheriffs often ask questions like:

  • Have you been out of the country in the past 14 days?
  • Do you feel sick?

We are sure that Qinqin Shen will be returning to Court, this time to face an attempted murder charge. Violent courtroom confrontations never end well.

Hopefully, this is the end of both of their 16-year fight. The two had filed many documents and Applications against each other.

All of this costs taxpayers money. The two also must have spent a lot of time and money on court fees. Neither had lawyers.

This is the problem when people don’t have lawyers. They can spend a ton of time fighting in court since they are not paying an hourly rate.

Courtroom Confrontations In BC

One case that still lingers in my mind is from 2017, where a man brutally attacked a lawyer with a sharp object in a Surrey courtroom. The motive for the attack remains unclear, leaving a sense of unease and fear in the hearts of those present. This kind of unprovoked aggression is unacceptable and must be prevented at all costs.

Another shocking case took place in 2004 in a Vancouver courthouse where a man was shot and killed by the police during a bail hearing. The man had pulled out a gun and started firing at the court officials and police, putting everyone present in grave danger. This is a stark reminder of the need for increased security measures and the importance of having safety protocols in place.

In 2012, a man assaulted his ex-wife and her lawyer during a custody battle hearing, causing injuries. This kind of violence is particularly disturbing as it happens during cases involving vulnerable individuals, leaving them feeling unprotected and unsafe.

Internet Argument Turns Physical: Woman Stabs Rival in Court

In 2014, a judge was attacked with a hammer by a man during a sentencing hearing in a Vancouver courthouse. This was one of the most shocking cases of violence in the courtroom, and it highlighted the need for stricter safety measures and better protection for those involved in legal proceedings.

These incidents of violence in our courtrooms are unacceptable, and we must do everything in our power to prevent them from happening. It is essential that we increase security measures and ensure that everyone involved in the justice system is trained to de-escalate potentially violent situations and respond quickly in case of an emergency.

The use of technology, such as metal detectors and X-ray machines, is an excellent way to detect dangerous items and prevent them from entering the courtroom. Additionally, security cameras and panic buttons can be used to respond quickly to any incidents that may occur.

Furthermore, better training for judges, lawyers, and courthouse staff on how to handle potentially violent situations can help reduce the risk of violence and create a safe environment for all involved. It is crucial that we take domestic violence cases seriously and conduct proper risk assessments to ensure adequate safety measures are in place.
