Criminal
outside a bar in Jack London Square Oakland

need some legal advice from someone who knows their way around the criminal justice system in Oakland. A friend of mine recommended you, said you're the best in the biz, so I'm hoping you can help me figure this out.

So, here's my situation: I'm based right here in Oakland, over near Lake Merritt, and a couple of weeks ago, I got into an altercation outside a bar in Jack London Square. It was late, things got heated, and long story short, I ended up getting arrested. The charges are assault and public intoxication. Now, I'm not the type to get into fights, and honestly, I think the whole thing has been blown way out of proportion.

The guy I supposedly assaulted didn't even have a scratch on him, and as for being drunk, well, it was a bar, but I wasn't causing any trouble until this whole thing started. I think the bouncers and the other guy involved are making it out to be way worse than it was. The cops showed up, and next thing I know, I'm in handcuffs being read my rights.

I've never been in trouble with the law before, and this has me stressed out big time. I've got a job, a family, and I can't afford for this to spiral out of control. I need to know what I'm up against here. What are the potential consequences I'm looking at with these charges in Oakland? Is there any way to get them reduced or dropped, considering the circumstances and the fact that it's my first offense?

Also, I'm curious about the legal process. How does this usually go down in the Alameda County court system? I've never been to court before, and the thought of it is honestly freaking me out.

Any guidance you can offer would be a lifesaver. I'm just trying to get past this without it ruining my life.
