Shoplifting Steveston Village in Richmond, BC
I kinda messed up and got busted for shoplifting some oysters at the Steveston Village in Richmond, BC. I was with a couple of friends and we thought, why not try something dumb? Not my brightest moment, obviously. Anyway, the store security grabbed us as we tried to leave and the cops showed up super quick. They took us down to the station and everything. It’s my first time getting in any sort of trouble like this, and I’m freaking out a bit. Now I’m trying to figure out what to do next. Like, what are my rights here? I’m still in high school, and I’ve never had to deal with the law before. I heard something about having to talk to a lawyer before saying anything more to the police, but I already told them that the oysters were my idea when they were asking questions at the station. Did I mess up already? What happens next? And like, what should I expect to happen now? Are there specific steps I should take to sort this out without getting in deeper trouble? I’m really hoping this doesn’t mess up things with college applications and all that. I guess I’m just looking for some advice on how to handle this, especially anything specific I should know being in BC. Thanks a ton!
