The holy figure Ogyen Trinley Dorje is under fire. The woman said that she was raped by the holy figure, and became pregnant. She is now seeking support.
The holy figure is Ogyen Trinley Dorje, pictured above.
The lawsuit was filed in British Columbia, Canada. The allegations have not yet been proven. It was filed in the BC Supreme Court, which is not the same as the Canadian Supreme Court.
The claim said that the woman got pregnant after the holy figure raped her.
She is seeking spousal support, but not child support. It appears to be more about seeking payment due to common-law status, instead of payments for the child.
There is possibly another claim for child support.
The woman’s name is Vikki Hui Xin Han. She has only met Ogyen Trinley Dorje several times. Vikki Hui said she was in a common-law relationship with the holy figure.
Vikki Hui wanted to be a nun and wanted to connect with Ogyen Dorje. He started giving her lots of money, and they met in New York. This is where the rape is alleged to have happened.
The two often communicated over the phone.
Allegations Against Ogyen Trinley Dorje
Ogyen Trinley Dorje (The Karmapa Lama) said that they are not common law. He said that he never dated her, or had anything to do with her. He admitted to giving her money for the child.
Vikki Hui Xin Han has been given permission to amend her claim to add spousal support. Master Bruce Elwood allowed the amendment in the Court.
The master said that the claim has little chance of success since the two parties very rarely met. It is possible she will get child support, but not spousal support.
Spousal support is much harder to get than child support.
However, the pandemic has changed the meaning of relationships. Many people are unable to meet each other. Courts have to be more open to what a common-law relationship is.
Common law in BC is complex. You can see the link to learn more about it. It’s not just about how long couples have lived together.
A better test is if the couple acted like a married couple. The test can include over 20 things. Did they have sex, depend on each other, have children… etc.
It’s often a test of balance to determine if the couple is common-law or not.
The Karmapa Lama is the head of the Tibetan Buddhists. He took over this position at the age of 7.
He fled China for India.
Who Is Ogyen Trinley Dorje?
Ogyen Trinley Dorje, also known as the 17th Karmapa, is a highly esteemed spiritual leader in Tibetan Buddhism. His life story is one of both tragedy and triumph. Born on June 26, 1985, in the Chamdo region of Tibet, he was recognized as the Karmapa, leader of the Karma Kagyu tradition of Tibetan Buddhism, at the tender age of seven. He has since become one of the most revered and influential spiritual leaders of his generation.
However, his journey has not been an easy one. In 1992, Ogyen Trinley Dorje had to flee Tibet, crossing the treacherous Himalayan mountains on foot to seek refuge in India. After a perilous journey, he was finally granted asylum by the Indian government. He has since resided in Dharamshala, India, the same city where the Dalai Lama and the Tibetan government in exile are also based.
Ogyen Trinley Dorje has travelled extensively around the world, spreading the teachings of Tibetan Buddhism and advocating for interfaith dialogue and peace. He has also founded charitable organizations like the Karmapa Foundation and the Karmapa Trust that focus on promoting education, healthcare, and environmental conservation.

The traditional Tibetan monastic system
Ogyen Trinley Dorje has also dedicated himself to the preservation of Tibetan culture and tradition. He has authored numerous writings on Tibetan Buddhism and has worked to promote the study of Tibetan language and literature. He has also played a pivotal role in the revival of the traditional Tibetan monastic system, which was nearly decimated during China’s Cultural Revolution.
Despite his many accomplishments, Ogyen Trinley Dorje has also faced controversy in his career. In 2011, he was falsely accused of being a Chinese spy by some members of the Tibetan community. Though the allegations were found to be baseless, they still cast a shadow over his reputation.
The rape accusations have not helped his reputation.
